RayThis summer night in 1996 the cast of characters at Ray's was much the same as it would be today . Anthony and O.D are deceased but all the others regularly visit Ray's today .
We don't recollect much of the detail of this evening but it seems to have been a typical evening . Lawrence has pronounced on his revelations having said something to turn a crowd against him . The police are making an arrest and Anthony "the Nazi" and John "the Communist" are drinking together again .
Anthony was the real thing , a real Nazi . He also claimed to be a Republican . Anthony owned a small video library of Adolf Hitler speeches . Anthony studied these video tapes and practiced speaking as the Fuhrer did . He often performed a Hitler speech on avenue A ,in English , with all the appropriate gesticulation .He was occasionally beaten by neighborhood folks for his Fuhrer performances .We also note that a couple of years later Mordecai Levy of the Jewish Defense Organization came to the East Village looking for Anthony and his Nazi associates .
Finally we note that those holding coffee cups are not drinking coffee . In these distant times Ray unlawfully sold 40 ouncers of Bud , Balantine , Heineken and Rhinegold .

Sunday Evening at Ray's Candy Store
L.E.S. Jewels , Emil and Cobra ; White Folks on Avenue B and All the Usual Saturday Night Things ....
Early Saturday evening L.E.S. Jewels , sitting on Joanie's bicycle , said that though he was "gettin' a buzz on" he hadn't had a drink for 2 weeks . He claimed that he had been busy looking for a job ; that he was trying to turn it all around . Well , Jewels started with a Cobra this early Saturday evening and Emil , who was already many hours ago launched , just kept floatin' along wrappin' his lips around what ever floated by .This time it was Cobra for the 2 of them .
Jewels apparently spent a long and busy Saturday night . At 5 in the morning one of the Mars Bar bartenders told us that the Mars Bar staff had expelled Jewels 8 times during the evening . We were told that as the bar was being locked up , Jewels was still asking why he couldn't come in and drink .
In another reality on the other side of Tompkins Square Park a very orderly line of white folks walked quietly from Tompkins Square Park to avenue B and then up the avenue . We have no idea why they were all so white and quiet .
Things on St Marks Place were as usual , folks drinking , screaming and wearing unusual head gear .Much the same on avenue A .

Spidey Gets His Rickshaw Back ...
Spidey has his rickshaw in hand again . He had stepped into Lucy's on avenue a for a brief few minutes . He left his rickshaw unattended and unsecured . Thieves saw their opportunity and took Spidey's rickshaw for a run .
Spidey rode around the neighborhood in a cab for a while looking for his rickshaw . Then later while riding the hood on a borrowed bicycle he received a phone call from someone that had spotted the rickshaw . The rickshaw had been abandoned by the thieves and left sitting 2 blocks from Lucy's at 11th street and avenue A .
Spidey's Rickshaw Stolen Around 3 AM Sunday Morning in East Village
Above picture from a previous postSunday morning in the East village thieves made off with Spidey's rickshaw . We don't know much right now about the event but we did speak briefly with Spidey on avenue A just be before he ran off down avenue A on a lead offered by some folks passing in a taxi cab.
We are heading back to the street to follow up on this story .
